30 June 2009 Invitation to take part in investment projects for the creation of works for the high-quality potable water extraction and bottling

The United Nations General Assembly has declared the period of 2005 – 2015 the International decade of activities “Water for life”. Most of the member-countries of the United Nations Organization consider the water to be the motive force of their sustainable development.

At present about 60% of the population of the Earth is short of fresh potable water. By 2040 the demand of the mankind in fresh water will compare with the groundwater reserves available on the globe.

The Republic of Belarus has natural groundwater resources of about 45 million m3/day. The Black Sea – Baltic watershed running across the Belarus territory involves four large artesian basins: the Baltic, Moscow, Dnieper-Donets and Mazowcze-Lublin ones. A zone of fresh groundwater with salt content of 1 g/l is spread all over the territory of Belarus in depth a range of 150 to 400 m.

The proved reserves of fresh groundwater of industrial categories are 6.6 million m3/day. The total groundwater intake from water wells and intakes is about 2.8 million m3/day, of which 1.7 million m3/day – from proved reserves. Chemically, waters are hydrocarbonate, calcium-magnesium with the salt content of 1 g/l. Hydrogeologists of the Department for Geology of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection have revealed more than 80 regions, where there are occurrences of high-quality fresh groundwater suitable to be bottled almost without preliminary treatment.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus together with the Department for Geology have compiled a reference book for investors willing to create works for the extraction and bottling of a high-quality potable water within the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The reference book presents a complete information on the quality of potable water and an infrastructure of the areas outlined, as well as the procedure of creation of joint ventures, land using regulations, provision of economic incentives and promotion of sales of products, a list of taxes and other necessary payments as of 2009 in the Republic of Belarus. The whole reference book is presented at the website of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (http://www.minpriroda.by).

At present some of lands mentioned above and located near large towns and settlements with a developed infrastructure are prepared for the right to lease agreements for 99 years in order to construct the works for extraction and bottling of high-quality potable water or creation on their basis of plants to produce bottle-feeding, medicinal preparations, juices, beer and wine.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus invites your company to take part in investment projects for the creation of works for the high-quality potable water extraction and bottling, as well as other works based on fresh water.
